WHY OWEN GUNS does not have SHOPPING BASKETS?? But has CONTACT MAIL ORDER Instead.
mail order , in the Firearm industry has been getting a bad reputation of late, besides the Asia off shore internet mail order houses selling Fake Branded Rifle scopes with clear plastic instead of glass lenses, reticule adjusters that don’t work, but have a red and green illuminated cross hair, all with quality Brand names on the packaging, we have on shore internet sites that offer you pages where you put it in the shopping basket and give your card details and jobs done. But That’s Only The Start. Then the problems start either the goods do not arrive, you spend hours waiting on the phone, when you finally get some one the goods are out of stock and you have to wait till they come in, or the wrong goods appear and again you have to spend hours on the phone, just waiting to get through, then you pay to send it back, and wait again for the next replacement, or there is an un expected large freight cost that was not made obvious to you when you put your order in the basket. None of this occurs at Owen Guns, we do not have online shopping baskets we encourage our mail order customers to make prior contact, to confirm that we have, just the stock you require, and you know exactly how much the freight component will cost you. It only takes a quick call to 07 54825070 or 0754824099 in shop hours 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays, or fax to 07 54824718 with your credit card details, email owenguns@spiderweb.com.au emails and fax will be confirmed with freight component before dispatch. We want to encourage contact between our staff and customers, we want to make friends with our customers, some of who have been customers for over 40 years. If we fail, we want to know about it, so we can remedy it. Contact is the only way for lasting customer friendships to exist. TO ORDER. Details should include Name of card, ie Visa or Mastercard. Name on Card. Number on Card, Expiry Date of Card, 3 secret numbers on the rear of the card. Your home phone or mobile number. How you want it sent to you, ie mail or road freight. The address you want it sent to. Describe which item you want to purchase. On our website we also have shooting articles and important firearm information for the gun enthusiast. Take away free gun photos and free firearm images for your gun gallery collection. New firearm related material is being added every day. As every firearm owner should know, the Commonwealth Government with the support of each of the Australian States has banned the import of Lever Action Shot guns with magazine capacity over 5 rounds and has COAG meeting with all Police Ministers to plan further impositions and restrictions on our sport, hobby, and way of life. Hopefully, (but I doubt it) the One Million plus?? licenced firearm owners in Australia have each contacted their local Members of Parliament, both State ad Federal and informed them with no ambiguity that they do not want any further impositions and require them to work on your behalf for deregulation of the firearm industry and all licensed shooters. Please find a link to the Firearm Owners Association of Australia submission which I sent to the HON MICHAEL KEENAN MP.http://www.foaa.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Minister-for-JusticeMinister-Assisting-the-Small.pdfMinister for Justice & Attorney General. Two government reviews have recommended simplification and deregulation this year.First, the Senate Constitutional Committee spent 18 months and millions of dollars, reviewing Australia’s Gun Laws and returning a majority conclusion in Recommendation 5″1.225 The majority of Senators attending the inquiry recommend State and territory governments investigate avenues to deregulate the firearm industry to ease the economic burden on governments, industry and legal firearm users.”Second, the Martin Place Siege Joint Commonwealth NSW government –
specifically that ‘the Commonwealth, States and Territories should simplify the regulation of the legal firearms market through an update of the technical elements of the National Firearms Agreement.”
Yet, they are conspiring again to punish the innocent and protect the crime industry.
More than likely with Federal Elections due next year, the politicians and their henchmen will not strike against us until either party has a good majority then within weeks they will force the States to legislate (Extorting, by denying the taxes that the Feds steal from the people) then they will hope that the shooters will have three years to forget what was stolen from them.
We all must be ready to contact all politicians from all parties at the coming elections, we have to make sure they know it is an issue that they cannot ignore, if you write, email, phone and do not get a satisfactory confirmation that they will protect your rights, write a letter to your local or State newspapers and send it by email to all of them. Yes, your associations will be sending in submissions and will sit talking about it, but ultimately it is a numbers war. We have the numbers, we are a 1000 times more than the Gun Control Australia, or the Greens but we are complacent and if we fail to change the direction of Gun Laws in this country we deserve to suffer the consequences.
It is up to you, to do something, if you leave it to someone else, or your association the enemy will win and you and your children and all your friends will lose as well. 660,000 licensed shooters in Queensland last year, there was another 89,000 licence applications in to the QPS before July and that is just one State. We are the largest voting block in this country, we have to vote against the Liberal, Labour, National, Green ‘junta’.
It might not be a military ‘junta’, but with their combined crimes against the people I believe they are an illegal ‘junta’ they all steal, extort, fine without trial and send good people to jail for disagreeing with their firearm legislation. We have one major clearing house that masquerades as four major banks and owns the politicians and the one massive media company that writes the scripts for the politicians and yet some people still suggest that we live in a free country.
Due to the extortionate taxation system in Australia and our currency which is rightly called the ‘Pacific Peso’, 97 % of everything we buy is imported and has to be bought with worthwhile currencies, so it costs double the amount here in Australia than in other countries.
We all look at the prices of firearms and ammunition in America, we get upset when we realise what is available in a free country and what is denied us to under our tyranny, but when we see the huge difference in price we are gobsmacked. Retail prices are less than a third of the price in Australia. Even if we look at book prices, we pay three times the amount and earn less money.
Unfortunately, it is not going to get better for a long time, as I sadly predicted in the February edition of this Bulletin, until our government radically changes its policies it will chase the Australian Dollar below .66 cents in comparison with the US. In fact if the US Reserve increases interest rates, which will happen soon, the Australian dollar will be at .66 the next day. It has been hovering around the .69 to .70 cents at present. If our new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull follows his new world employers (Goldman-Sachs and Macquarie Bank) we will have climate changing carbon tax, and if he has a good majority after the next election 15% GST as well. He will ensure that we have a great influx of cheap labour, or more people to vote for their dole, with no real opposition to challenge the Labour Liberal National Triumvirate. All our major party leaders are all bought and paid for socialists.
The firearm industry has had two large increases from the importer/wholesalers this year and, nearly all have announced 10 to 14 % increase beginning as the first of October. Besides, price increases shortages will become more evident, as the USA elections and the thought of Hilary Clinton or another anti gunner in the White House, has provoked galloping sales in the USA. They all want to stock pile before any chance of impending legislation.
Having 41 years in the firearm business has allowed Owen Guns the luxury of fore knowledge, we have been through these periods before, so late last year we began gathering large amounts of stock and replacing it as soon as we could, so please take advantages of our prices and we will work very hard to see our customers through the very hard times that are approaching.
Ron Owen

The JW 15 sometimes known as the Chinese Brno, the Norinco or the Puma. The best value .22 Rifle on the market. $195 Synthetic or Wood. As many of you are aware, the Jain Wia Model 15, or JW 15 Norinco, or JW Puma is a copy of the old bolt action Model 1 BRNO. It has been on the market for years and has a well earned reputation as a reliable accurate work horse. Basically the rifle is simple, it has a simple but large bolt, that has diametrically opposed double locking lugs, (not just locking on the bolt handle) which has the advantage of safer lock up behind the cartridge and broader locking surfaces that resist head space wear, as a high point on a single locking lug can quickly wear and the shooter will experience cartridge rims blowing out due to the excess headspace. It has a simple 5 round magazine which is steel and a steel magazine holder, all features that are sometimes missing on firearms that cost $1000 or more. They have simple trigger system almost identical to the Brno Model 1 that we all had no problem adjusting in the 1960s. The wooden stock is not walnut, it’s just a simple stock made of some unspecified Chinese wood, which has properties similar to Walnut. Rough on the inside but these day have an attractive oil finished on the outside, blink the eye and it looks like a CZ American Classic without the price tag. The action at first is not silky smooth like a Tikka, its a little gritty, but plenty of use, or take off the sharp edges with a fine wet and dry paper and it soon smooths down into a nice action. The same goes for the trigger as it is no frills, just require a little TLC on the adjustment and it always works. Forget the safety catch, you would need to be a Russian weightlifter, a Japanese Sumo wrestler to get it on and off, but all rifles are safe if the bolt is open and deadly dangerous when closed. No safety ever should be trusted, the bolt is much more visible and can be much easily visually checked by all present. My old JW Norinco is primarily a rabbit rifle. Countless rabbits have been sent to the happy hunting ground, and in the early 1990s I did get a AAA second in the Metallic Silhouettes Nationals and State Champions with it. In essence this is what the JW 15 is built for, it’s a hunting tool that is reliable and solidly built which can be used at the range for plinking and starting on the competition circuits. My JW is also accurate, at 100 metres using Eley Club, I can get a 5 shot group in less than an inch. I have seen it out shoot many more expensive rifles at the range. It is one of the rifles that I will never sell as it has earned my faith and trust in all of the endeavours I have asked for it, and will continue to do so for many years to come. Also at $195. they are the best value .22lr on the Australian market. So do yourself a favour and go get yourself one or two, you will be pleasantly surprised. Ron

“It’s a week since I received a copy of “Range Officers Hand Book” and since that time I am nearly at the half way mark. I’m amazed at the at the number of subjects you have covered making it one of the most informative books to be added to my collection. It must have taken you a considerable amount of time and experience to publish the book with information not available in other popular Gunsmith manuals. I would recommend the book to “Range Officers” and anyone interested in the sport of target shooting and hunting.” Regards Gene M Cornford P.O.Box 288, Kaeo 0448 N.Z. Firearms Gunsmith, Dip M.G.S +Member of American Gunsmithing Assoc.
